Welcome to the Hui Alaloa Lehua Māla and Nursery!
Breaking ground in the Summer of 2022, this demonstration project uplifts communal efforts to remove invasive species, debris, car parts and metals from the land and nurturing the soils back to health through biocultural restoration, innovative Indigenous sciences, kilo and community activation we hope to increase accessibility to food and medicinal plants that will benefit the health of our neighbors.

Our ApproachHui o Ho`ohonua is works to lead and steward a lei of community demonstration stewardship projects along the Pearl Harbor Historic Trail that reactivates the region as a source of healthy food and waters.
Through stewarding this māla we are working to recreate regenerative sustainable systems. We welcome all ages and people to join us in removing rubbish, invasive plant species, prepping the land for urban food forestry, and planting. |

From 8am-12noon, Saturday Lehua Community Park, 781 Lehua Ave., Pearl City, HI 96782
Our hui stewards the māla every month with and without communal participation to maintain the progress from each community workday.

If you are a first time volunteer with Hui o Ho`ohonua, please sign and submit our waiver form. You are welcome to download, sign and email your form to our coordinator @[email protected] or complete a hard copy upon arrival to the workday. If you have submitted a waiver before, you do not need to submit again.
*Individuals under the age of 18 must have a signature from their respective parent/guardian |
If you are a first time volunteer with Hui o Ho`ohonua, please sign and submit our Media Release waiver. This form is not mandatory but it is highly encouraged.Photos taken by our team is used for grant reporting, community engagement and presentation tools, and educational tool development.
Email completed forms to @[email protected] or complete a hard copy upon arrival to the work day. *It is absolutely okay to not want to participate in photos! Please notify our team members prior to starting the work that you are not comfortable with being photographed. |
